Hessel Bosch (Enschede, 1946) was born with a lens for life. After almost half a century of working according to the rules of professional photography, he is now going wild, with the only rule that there are no rules. He travels throughout Europe in search of hidden treasures of history. His passion for the industrial, cultural and architectural heritage gives the past a new dimension, raw and rough, pure and nude. Weeds bloom, concrete starts to breathe, rust gets luster, graffity becomes literature. He is the curator in his own museum of urban photography. Each photo tells a separate story, the total collection is the harvest of its mission: observing and recording. Free work gives him inspiration for revolutionary compositions and that does not stop when the camera rests. In his head it is never a break and on the bedside table are pen and paper ready to tame wild ideas. It is this creative turmoil that drives Hessel into grand photos. And to various awards, such as the Golden Camera, various Kodak Gold Awards and finally after winning many prizes the Gold Master Title.
STILL GOING YOUNG
When you have a tattoo of a Leica on your arm, you make a statement that you are literally one with your camera. Hessel Bosch (Enschede, 1946) is busy day and night with photography and travels around the world to make a living. Berlin, Rome, Shanghai: his diary can be read as an advanced travel guide. He not only follows the compass, but also the motto of his hero and buddy Niel Young, whose two telling quotes tell everything about their motto for life:
ROCK AND ROLL IS HERE TO STAY
IT'S BETTER TO BURN OUT THAN TO FADE AWAY
AS LONG AS WE CAN SAIL AWAY
THERE'LL BE WIND IN THE CANYON
MOON ON THE RISE AS LONG
AS WE CAN SAIL AWAY
Hessel Bosch is here to stay. Still Going Young. His work can be seen on this website and at constantly changing exhibitions. If you are interested in purchasing one of his photos, please contact us.
